At Outdoor Adventure Shop, we stand by our gear as steadfastly as you rely on it in the wilderness. If your equipment doesn’t meet expectations, our hassle-free return process ensures you’re back on the trail with the right gear quickly.

Our Return Promise

We accept returns within 15 days of delivery for most items (see exceptions below). All returned items must be:

  • In original condition with tags attached
  • Unused and free of odors (no campfire smoke or trail dust)
  • In original packaging (tent poles folded properly, sleeping bags uncompressed)

Non-Returnable Items

For safety and hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns on:

  • Helmets & Protective Gear (once removed from packaging)
  • Hiking Base Layers (worn next to skin)
  • Dog Gear (custom-fitted items)
  • Any item showing signs of use or missing tags

How to Return Your Gear

Follow these steps like you would a well-marked trail:

Step 1: Initiate Your Return

Contact our Adventure Support Team within 15 days of delivery:

Use this template to expedite your request:

Step 2: Package Your Return

Once approved, repackage items securely using original packaging when possible. Include:

  • Completed return form (we’ll email this)
  • Original receipt or order confirmation

Step 3: Ship Your Return

Choose your return shipping method:

  1. Prepaid Label (Recommended): We’ll email a return label for $8.50 (deducted from your refund)
  2. Self-Arranged Shipping: Ship to:

Refund Information

Once we receive and inspect your return:

  • Processing Time: 3-5 business days
  • Refund Method: Original payment (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, PayPal)
  • Timeline:
    • Credit Cards: 5-10 business days after processing
    • PayPal: 3-5 business days after processing

Note: Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.

Exchanges

Need a different size or color? Follow the return process above and:

  1. Clearly state your exchange preference in your return request
  2. We’ll ship the replacement once we receive your return (standard shipping rates apply)
  3. For faster service, place a new order and return the original separately

Damaged or Defective Items

If your gear arrives damaged or defective:

  • Contact us immediately with photos of the damage
  • We’ll arrange a free return and expedited replacement
  • No need to wait for return processing – we’ll ship your replacement right away

International Returns

For adventurers outside the U.S. (excluding some Asian/remote regions):

  • Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility
  • Include all customs documentation for “Returned Goods”
  • Allow 4-6 weeks for full processing
